Empowering Veterans Through Equine Program in Clermont, FL
Michael's Foundation, nestled in the heart of Central Florida, has kicked off the first quarter of 2024 with a series of transformative programs aimed at supporting Veterans and their families through the healing power of horseback riding. At our Host Farm located in Clermont, FL, we've continued our mission of offering Horseback Riding Program for Veterans tailored specifically for Veterans, along with the much-anticipated activities of our Pasture Grads, or as we fondly call them, the Grad Squad.
For Veterans who've joined us in the early months of 2024, the adventure began with a commitment to a 12-week cycle of horseback riding lessons. Each participant, up to four per class, is given the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the equestrian world, learning about horse care, safety, grooming, tacking, and, of course, the art of horseback riding. What makes our program stand out is its inclusivity, welcoming Veterans and their families with a minimum age requirement of just 12 years old. Our foundation ensures all necessary equipment is provided, requiring only long pants and boots with a heel to get started.
One of the most powerful testimonials from our participants echoes a sentiment we hear often:
“I am so glad I took the leap and gave Michael’s Foundation a chance! I encourage others to give it a try, even if you don’t think riding horses is for you. You can always join the events just for the sense of Community.”
This community aspect is the lifeblood of our program. It's not just about horseback riding; it's about building connections, fostering resilience, and finding a sense of belonging among those who've shared similar experiences.
As participants progress through their 12-week journey, many aspire to join our esteemed Grad Squad. This elite group of Veterans who've completed their initial training shows their dedication through attending at least two practices a month, demonstrating their skills at a minimum of three events a year, and adhering to the safety standards of proper helmet, riding boots, and attire. Being part of the Grad Squad means not only furthering one's equestrian skills but also taking on a role of leadership and mentorship within the Veteran community.
As we reflect on the achievements and breakthroughs of Q1 2024, it's clear that Michael's Foundation has created a sanctuary for healing, learning, and camaraderie in Clermont, FL. Our vision extends far beyond these initial programs, with plans to expand our offerings and reach more Veterans and their families in Central Florida and beyond.
We invite all Veterans interested in exploring the transformative power of our Horseback Riding Program for Veterans and consider taking the first step towards a journey of recovery and empowerment. Join us, and become part of a growing community that finds strength, courage, and peace through the bonds formed with our noble equine friends.
To all Veterans and their families, Michael's Foundation stands with you, ready to embark on this journey together. Here’s to many more milestones and successes in 2024 and beyond.
