“I have been incredibly fortunate to have a career that revolves around my passion – a love of horses. I have dedicated my career to furthering the health and wellness of equine herds while innovating programs that illustrate the therapeutic value of horse-human relationships to the general public. As the co-founder of Michael’s Foundation, I am dedicated to helping veterans through equine-learning programs and experiential education formats that support veterans and their families. It has been an honor to see the transformative effect the programs deliver. I have spent a lifetime as a horsewoman and three decades as an equine professional.
Throughout my career, I have had the honor of working with some of the best and brightest trainers, teachers, mentors, and horses. This has brought me to where I am today, a devout student of the horse, sharing my learning with others through uniquely designed lesons and experiences. Those experiences have come in the form of decades in the show ring with numerous titles and trophies, hours upon hours in the saddle, late nights and early mornings, handling of serious medical emergencies, blood, sweat and tears. Moments acquired over 5 decades of a life spent with horses in every facet of the industry. What I have learned is immense and only a drop in the bucket of what’s available to know. It is an honor to bring all of this to the table and share with my community at Michael’s Foundation.
“The first horse I owned was gifted to me at 2 ½ years of age and that is when my career began. I have never been able to imagine a life without horses. They have been a part of almost every second of my life. In turn, I am privileged to share their teachings and way of engaging in the world with others. I cannot fathom a better way of life… learning from horses, teaching about horses, authoring stories about horses: all components of my dream life and the gifts I’m blessed to share!” Cathy Huddleston.
